[ASUU STRIKE] - Protesting Market Women Storm National Assembly

Market Women and Men Association of Nigeria stormed the National Assembly yesterday at about 11:30am over the prolonged ASUU strike which has been ongoing for over 3 months. The market women who spoke with one voice said they were tired of seeing their kids at home and that something should be done about it immediately.

“We are tired of seeing our children at home. We want our children back in school. Enough of this cheap blackmail. Said Mrs Felicia Sani, leader of the group...

“We all know what they do with our year-one daughters in the university. We equally know that they sell handouts and handbooks.

“Is this not worse than corruption of the highest order?”

“We are begging them for the last time. If we come out again we may have to chase them out of this country and replace them with so many jobless Nigerians.”

Meanwhile, Union leaders for the University Of Ibadan have complained about receiving death threats as a result of their role in the strike.
