[Suicide Watch] Gang Rape Victim Takes Her Life In Bayelsa

Janet, 18, who was gang-raped by three boys at gunpoint last week is said to have committed suicide. She took her own life due to the  stigmatization she got after the ugly incident.

The victim(now deceased) is a native of Oduali Community in Abus/Odua Local Government Area of Rivers State. She was said to have been raped by three unknown boys in the area...

According to a family source, the incident happened while she ran errand for her sibling. She was forced into an uncompleted building by the attackers, where they took turns to rape her.

“Janet was visibly sad and devastated after the incident; she narrated her experience to her sister and sister’s husband. The sister’s husband, who is a pastor, asked her to describe any of her attackers and she described a certain boy.

“The boy was traced to his house but when they got there, they discovered that he had absconded. Her brother-in-law then assured her that he would pursue the matter to a logical conclusion.”

Unknown to her guardians, the distraught girl had decided to take her life due to the ugly incident. Janet gulped a poisonous substance known as sniper. She was rushed to the Gloryland Hospital when she was discovered to be groaning in pain.”

The Police State Command in Bayelsa has confirmed the incident, saying the matter is already being investigated. 

NB: Sniper is a chemical substance which is used for the control of a wide range of insects, warehouse de-infestation and field application on a wide range of crops.
