8 Passengers Drown In Lagos Boat Mishap

After the boat mishap in River Niger which claimed about 42 lives (READ STORY HERE) some days back,  Another commercial boat conveying about 19 passengers is said to have capsized around Apapa area of Lagos, with 8 people reportedly drowned.

The commercial boat conveying passengers, mostly traders, was reportedly returning from Sagbokoji Village, when the incident occurred.

The boat reportedly developed a fault and capsized  midway into the journey as the problem could not be rectified by the boat operators.

Lagos State Police Command however said only two persons were suspected to have drowned in the boat mishap while seven others were rescued. Names of those suspected drowned were given as Toume, Fajuwa and Tomiwa.

Rescue operation by officers of the Marine Police for some of the missing passengers was still on as at 4:30 pm.
