Finley Devonshire was given a 10% chance of survival when he was born at 24 weeks. He weighed just 15ozs - less than a bag of sugar.
The mother suffered from headaches and high blood pressure during the 23rd week of the pregnancy which doctors told her was pre-eclampsia. Parents Gemma Haskey and Graham Devonshire were given the horrifying option of aborting the pregnancy because the baby could suffer brain-damage. She decided to continue carrying the baby after scan showed that he was healthy.
Gemma Haskey's health codition deteriorated the following day and was left with no choice but to deliver the baby.
The baby had a 10% chance of surviving the delivery. Surprisingly he did. Mother and baby were rushed to intensive care unit after the Caesarean section. He responded well to treatment and had an incredible fighting spirit which amazed Doctors. He was hospitalized for 5 months and finally allowed to go home with his parents on August 14.
