Court Grants Bail to a Man Who Allegedly Raped a Four-year-old Child

47-year-old Orire Agidiogun, who allegedly raped a four-year-old child in his apartment was granted a N300,000 bail yesterday by an Apapa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.  He is facing a three-count charge on rape and unlawful detention.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Soji Ojaokomo, the accused enticed the four-year-old child to his room, where he raped her.

He said: “The accused was caught when the mother heard her daughter’s cry and she quickly alerted people around, who helped to apprehend him. The woman later reported the case to the police.”

Adidiogun who pleaded not guilty to the charges, faces life imprisonment if convicted.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Oluyemisi Adelaja, adjourned the case to November 14.
