13-year-old Primary Five Pupil Kills Classmate Over Damaged Earpiece in Kogi

Yinusa Halilu, 13, have been arrested by Kogi police for allegedly killing Mustapha Kazeem, 12, his friend and classmate, over a damaged earpiece.

Austin Evakhabokun, the Acting Commissioner of Police in Kogi said that a dispute ensued between the primary school pupils, the suspect and the deceased, when Halilu demanded the return of the earpiece he lent to the deceased.

The late Kazeem said that the earpiece was damaged and Halilu demanded monetary value for the damaged earphone. This led to exchange of words, as Halilu insisted on collecting the money forcefully. The demand got the deceased angry who reportedly called the suspect a thief and rushed into the house, brought out a cutlass and inflicted cuts on the suspect’s head.

Evakhabokun said that the suspect reportedly rushed to a nearby restaurant with his machete cuts and picked a knife, which he used to stabbed the deceased in the chest, leading to his death.

Halilu told newsmen the deceased hit him on his head with a machete and in retaliation, he stabbed him in the chest, which led to his death.
