11-month-old Girl Beheaded by Farmer in Niger State

A 24-year-old farmer, Danladi Abubakar, has been arrested by the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID for allegedly beheading a toddler, Hadiza Mohammed for ritual purposes. He confessed he was contracted by a man in Bida, who is on the run.

Abubakar who also admitted to severing her private parts said he was promised a reward of N20,000 after the contract. The incidence occurred in Fujeregi village, Gbako Local Government Area, Niger State.


With the disappearance of the girl, the parents and villagers instantly formed a search party, their effort was futile. The farmer who later confessed to the crime was immediately arrested after the incidence was reported at the police divisional office in Lemu town.

He was immediately charged to Minna Magistrate Court on one-count charge of culpable homicide punishable under Section 222 of the panel code law.

At the hearing of the case, the police prosecutor in charge of the matter, Inspector Daniel Ikwoche said; “Mohammed Worogi, father of the deceased reported to the police in Lemu that on November 4, 2013, Danladi Abubakar entered his room and removed his daughter named Hadiza Mohammed and beheaded her.”

Abubakar pleaded guilty when the charge was read to him by the presiding magistrate, Maryam Ladidi King.
