Barcelona star player and 4-time world footballer of the year; Lionel Messi and his fellow Argentine team mates met with Pope Francis in the Vatican ahead of a friendly match with Italy (also present) in Rome.


 

The Pope who asked the players to intercede on His behalf to “play an honest game on the pitch that God had put Him on” received an Argentine and an Italian team Jersey, each one signed by the players.
