ASUU STRIKE UPDATE: Two-Day Fasting & Prayer - UI Chapter of ASUU 'Take It To The Lord In Prayer'

After 5 months of failed rigorous and exhaustive negotiations with the Federal Government, the University of Ibadan, UI, chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on Tuesday, decided to 'take it to the Lord in prayer' as they declared a two-day fasting and prayer for a divine intervention in their five-month old tussle with government.

According to the Branch Chairman of the Union, Olusegun Ajiboye, there was need for God's divine intervention and visitation in the ongoing strike. 

[ASUU STRIKE UPDATE] - FG to Inject N1.1 trillion Into Universities

Reports coming in from the meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and the leadership of Academic Staff Union of Universities suggest that the strike would be called off as early as next week.

According to Punch;

A key component of the agreement reached by the parties was  that the Federal Government  would  inject N1.1tn into public universities in the next five years.

A reliable source, who made this known, also hinted that the strike would be called off anytime next week.

[ASUU STRIKE UPDATE] Strike Will Be Over In "Few Months" - Education Minister

Minister Of Education, Mr Nyesom Wike, in a statement at the anniversary lecture of National Universities Commission (NUC) in Abuja, assured Nigerians that the ongoing strike by ASUU would be over in a "few months".

Wike who was duly represented by Dr. Macjohn Nwaobiola, Perm Sec; Ministry of Education, stated that the Federal Government is doing everything it can to resolve the current strike.

[ASUU Strike Update] FG Agrees To Spend N200b Each For Four Years

After over 3 months of failed negotiations between ASUU and the Federal Government, both parties have reached an agreement which includes the Federal Government spending  N200 billion in the 2014 budget on the universities as well as on each of the next three-four years until the universities are brought to world-class standard.

According to Sahara Reporters;

The government has also increased to N40 billion as a first installment, funds for the payment of earned allowances to the striking lecturers, an improvement from the N30 billion previously released
