Last Laugh? Ex-Gov. Accused of Stealing N19.8billion is New PDP Chairman

Premium Times -Barring any last-minute change in plan, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will, at its National Executive Committee meeting on Monday (today), ratify a former governor of Bauchi state, Adamu Mu’azu, as its new national chairman, party and presidency sources have said.

The usually reliable sources told PREMIUM TIMES early Monday morning that Mr. Mu’azu emerged the consensus candidate for the job after a rash of meetings involving President Goodluck Jonathan, PDP governors and other influential chieftains of the party, including Vice President Namadi Sambo and President of the Senate, David Mark.

Tear Gas, Sporadic Shootings - Police Fire Live Ammunition At Lawmakers In Rivers

Reprisal attack by the PDP on Amaechi's infamous 'port' to the ACN? Premium Times reports a fresh chaos in Rivers Politics as live ammunition were fired at lawmakers loyal to Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

The police in Rivers today disrupted a sitting of the Rivers state House of Assembly who were holding plenary for the first time since July when the House was sealed.

Twenty-five of the 26 members of the House loyal to embattled Governor Rotimi Amaechi had converged on the Assembly earlier today to sit in compliance with a high court order barring the National Assembly from taking over the functions of the Assembly...

Founding Chairman Of PDP, Solomon Lar Dies In The US

Chief (Dr.) Solomon Daushep Lar, founding chairman of PDP  and former governor of old Plateau State died at about 3.30 am yesterday in the US. He had been undergoing treatment for prostrate related ailments for almost two years and had to visit his doctors abroad constantly in the last one year. Only a few days back, he was said to be on life support (See Story here).

His death was announced by Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang at the Government Lodge, after receiving a phone call from the Lar family.

”I received a call from the US that Baba (Chief Solomon Lar has gone to be with The Lord. Baba died at 3.30 a.m. this morning”

Bomb Scare At PDP HQ In Abuja

Following the black Thursday in Lagos that the entire Country is still trying to recover from, the National secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was yesterday thrown into a state of turmoil and total confusion as both senior and junior staff ran for safety following   fear of planted bomb by an undisclosed group.

As the news went round the Wadata Plaza, the PDP National Secretariat,   top party officials were scampering to leave the secretariat, just as some directors hurriedly discharged their Staff for the week end.

Massive Looting Going On Under Jonathan – Says Baraje, New PDP

The war of words between the Old Vs New PDP continued as The chairman of the new Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, unequivocally condemned the rape of the country’s economy by the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan administration.

He said that despite claims to the contrary by the government in a futile bid to deceive Nigerians, the overwhelming evidence is that the Nigerian economy has been run aground and is now comatose.
The assertions are contained in a statement issued by the faction in Abuja, and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Chukwuemeka Eze.

Reps "Throw Blows" Over Rebel Governors Visit

Fighting erupted in  the House of Representatives on Tuesday when   seven governors loyal to the New Peoples Democratic Party visited  the House in Abuja. A member of the House  from Bayelsa State, Mr. Henry Ofongo, was punched and shoved repeatedly by his colleagues for daring to  oppose  the visit. His  jacket  was pulled off  by some members.

Most of the members who crowded Ofongo, were from Kano State, including Mr. Aminu Suleiman, Mr. Baballe Murktar, Mr. Ali Madakaki and Mr. Ado Dogoa. Mr. Dakuku Peterside and Andrew Uchendu, both from Rivers State, also shoved Ofongo, preventing him from moving close to the high table.
