Patience Jonathan Seeks Stiff Sanctions Against Rape

Rape is one of those crimes besides corruption that has really eaten deep into the soul of our nation. It has already done damage to India as a country and if not properly curbed, will do the same to Nigeria. Our First Lady who spoke at the advocacy meeting on sexual violence against women in Paris, France, called for stiff penalties, backed by effective laws for perpetrators of sexual violence against women.

The meeting was hosted by the First Lady of France, Ms Valerie Trierweiler, on the sideline of the Elysee Summit for Peace and Security in Africa holding in Paris.

Nigeria's First Lady Honoured With Doctorate Degree In South Korea

Wife of the President, Dame Patience Jonathan was honoured with a doctorate degree in South Korea on Thursday. The degree which was awarded by Hansei University is her fourth honourary doctorate degree since becoming 'First lady'.

The University Chancellor Sung-Hae Kim said the first lady was being honoured for her humanitarianism, citing her dedication to improving the lives of the less privileged in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
