'I Am Malala' Memoir - The Girl Shot by the Taliban for Going to school, To Be BANNED Because it 'Represents the West'

Educationists in Pakistan have banned the memoir 'I Am Malala', written by the teenager with British journalist Christina Lamb, from 40,000 schools as she 'represents the West'.

President of the All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association, Adeeb Javedani, said his group had banned the book from the libraries of all affiliated schools.

He said Malala, 16, was representing the West, not Pakistan. The book details her extraordinary story and her continued role as an activist.

Campaigning Pakistani schoolgirl Malala Yousafzai was reunited on Saturday with two friends who were injured in the Taliban attempt to kill her.

Kainat Riaz and Shazia Ramzan met Malala during an event at Edinburgh University in Scotland, the first time they have seen her since the attack.   

Malala Meets the Obamas at the White House

For those who dont know Malala Yousafzai, she is the 16-year-old Pakistani girl who was shot in the head in October 2012 while she was going home from school by the Taliban for campaigning for girl's education. She was flown to a hospital in Britain, where she now lives. Her memoir "I am Malala" was published on Tuesday.

US President Barack Obama and the first family  welcomed Pakistani schoolgirl activist Malala Yousafzai to the White House on Friday "to thank her for her inspiring and passionate work on behalf of girls education in Pakistan," a statement from the White House read.

The Pakistani teen had been considered a front-runner for the Nobel Peace Prize and was in Washington to speak at two events.
