25 Nigerians Arrested For Sex Trafficking In Spain

25 Nigerians have been arrested by the Spanish Police for their involvement in human trafficking for sexual exploitation, Internet fraud and money laundering.

Five women victims of sex slavery also were released during the crackdown on the underground operation in Spain, the police said in a statement Sunday.

The gang was using Spain as a springboard to send Nigerian women to be exploited in other countries, and it laundered profits by buying luxury products that were shipped to Lagos, Nigeria, in vans with darkened windows and welded doors, police said.

A woman has been arrested by the Nigerian Police in Port Harcourt for running an illegal maternity home. According to reports, Six pregnant girls were rescued during the raid.

Joy Elomoko, Spokeswoman of the Imo State Police Command, in a statement on  Wednesday said the raid on the Port Harcourt home followed the arrest of a girl with a baby in nearby Owerri on October 15. 

“We rescued six girls last week at different stages of pregnancy from an illegal maternity home in Port Harcourt,”

A young Chinese couple sold their infant daughter and used the proceeds to buy an Apple iPhone. They are presently facing criminal punishment.

A case has been brought against them by Shanghai prosecutors for human trafficking after they illegally put their third child up for adoption online and accepted money for the baby, the Liberation Daily reported.
