Paul Walker Initially Survived Crash - Cause of His Death Revealed

The cause of Paul Walker's death was revealed today - he survived the crash on Saturday, only to be burned alive one minute later when the vehicle exploded in flames.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office ruled Wednesday that Walker, 40, died from the 'combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries.'

The ruling indicates that the actor was severely injured, but still alive after the collision. He died only after the car caught fire - which came up to 60 seconds after the $500,000 Porsche Carrera GT smashed into a tree and a light post.

Walker's friend Roger Rodas, who was driving, died on impact.

TMZ reports that both Rodas, 38, and Walker had to be positively identified through dental records because their bodies were so badly burned.

Rodas' cousin, Ruben Ramirez, told MailOnline today that his family is worried Rodas' body was so badly burned that they will not be able to have a traditional funeral.

'I have been speaking to the family and we have no idea when we will be able to have a funeral,' Mr Ramirez said.

'We don't even know if we will be able to have a traditional one, because his body may be too badly burnt.'

He added: 'Of course there will be some kind if memorial whatever, but there may not be a funeral.

'We will just have to wait and see what happens.'
